Making slow progress – but the next few days will be productive I hope with the Truss rafters arriving on Friday morning and also the other roofing materials. It will be a busy weekend weather permitting 😉
And today it started snowing as you can see in the photo above.
Progress has been limited due to the fact that this is a spare time project. I try to work on it for about 1 – 2 hours each evening which is fine but it gets dark at about 4pm at the moment and I work till about 5 so all of my evening work is done in the dark with whatever lighting I can supply. The weather is also a consideration with a combination of both rain and very cold. One evening I had to scrape the frost of the wood surface before work could start 😉
That said, I find working with timber to be really satisfying and my goal for this next 5 days is to have the roof erected and made water tight! I then plan to get the roof tilled over the Christmas break 😉
I have been able to borrow some scaffolding from a friend which is a really benefit for sure meaning that I will be able to work to my own time table as opposed to rushing work when with in a hire period!
Lets hope that the weather is kind over the the next few days – but I am not holding my breath with the forecast for snow and the possibility of a white Christmas. However, we will just havbe to press on as circumstances permit!
I now have two flood lights, a scaffolding tower and a thermal boiler suite, it is really gratifying to see how friends rally round at the time like this providing useful support by lending equipment etc….
