Keswick – very sunny day ;-)

This was our first full Saturday in Keswick. I think that we were all hoping for some good warm weather. Today was to be the day!!!! Although we had a fairly wet start to the day it soon started to clear up and the sun overtook as the most influential weather effect. Our first visitors of the day were the family of swans that have been seen around the site each day since we arrived. As you can see the photo below they always stay together with the dad out in front and mum tagging along with the young close behind!

Then it was off to Windermere and Kendal for a day trip! We arrived in Windermere to discover that the annual air show was on the the town was mobbed with visitors. Getting a place to park was near to impossible so we decide to carry on to Kendal to re-visit Windermere on the way back to Keswick. As you can see below we caught the last fly-pass of the air show with the Vulcan Bomber which was I think might have been the star turn for the day!

This next view is looking up the lake and as you can see the conditions were next to perfect for the show with really good visibility and next to no clouds!

Richard invited me to come for a drive in his new car!!! I wish 😉 And so did he I think!!!

We took many photos and were able to do so from all sorts of angles here Richard is trying for a good shot of Mary, Fiona and two dogs – its a real problem getting the two girls to say still long enough to get a good shot!!! ( it’s the dogs I am referring to here of course!!!)

I took this photo of one of the swans because of the way it was holding up its webbed feet! But when I looked at it after wards I felt that it was overall a very good photo so wanted to share it here!

It was very hot with the sun being so bright as you can see below! We sat and watched the swans for a while in this very position!!!

The it was back to the car and a well earned drink for the girls ( the dogs again I mean). Here you can see them fighting for the last drop from the bowl they shared!

We then returned to the camp site at Keswick to enjoy the last of the sun at the tent. Once the sun has faded away we spent and hour of so playing a family game!!! These games are competitive to say the least!!!!

Evening in the Sun

It has been a great day here in Keswick. Initially, is was raining cats and dogs. The sort of morning that makes you want to stay in bed when you are camping under canvas. Then Richard and Fiona arrived unexpectedly which really did brighten up the day 😉 Also the rain soon stopped and we have had a really nice day weather wise too. As can be seen below we had dinner outside in the evening sun – excellent!

So we have had a great day but then so have the dogs – yes we now have two with us in the tent. They also see to have had a nice day! See below how they have assumes their usual rest position. It is now early evening and they have both decided its time to have a rest time! It’s a dogs life they say!!!! These dogs seem to have a very carefree life is you want my opinion!!!

Big Surprise – Friday Morning

It rained again this morning from early!!! Very heavy again!!!! But good news is that all our preventative work has paid dividends and we have not had any water leaking above ground level!!! However today had another surprise in store! Hollie came to visit! Hollie is Abbies sister and belongs to my Daughter and Son in Law. See below and you see Richard with the two dogs!
They arrived at about 9am having driven down from Kemnay starting at about 4am!!!! It’s great to have them here for a few days so we are looking forward to enjoying their company. hopefully the weather will continue to improve for us and that we will have more days like yesterday!!!!

Keswick – evening in tent when raining…..

Well what do you do when you are confined to the tent because its raining outside!!!

If you are a dog like Abbie then you probably gnaw on you bone whilst sitting on your bean bag. The weather outside seems to make little if any difference if you are a dog!

Of course if you are a dog and you get fed up with the same old bone then you probably need to find something a little more stimulating to do!
In these days of technology and ever extended access to broadband its probably worth finding a human who can operate your social networking system and then going online for a networking session!
Here you can publish something to world audience ( depending on who is listening of course) about what your day has been like!

And of course, there are some times that you might just want to nod your head and have a snooze. This is something that seems to apply to humans as well as dogs! It is quite a nice feeling when you know that you have no deadline to meet and no immediate priority and you just close your eyes and have a snooze! As for me, I seldom allow this to happen as I am a great believer in living life to the full and not wasting any precious moments!

Sea Princess Returns San Francisco

Having watched the Sea Princess leaving San Fransisco 10 days ago we decided to do same as she arrived back. The map below is taken form the marinetraffic.com web site which shows the current position of commercial ships around the world. The Sea Princess is represented by the blue arrow pointing towards the Golden Gate bridge.

The next picture in the sequence is taken from the ships Bridge WebCam and you can just see the Golden Gate Bridge in the distance.

Getting closer and the bridges south tower is clearly seen and also a freight carries just inside the bay.

Now just about the pass under the bridge.

Now we shift angles to the Fishermans Warf Web Cam. Here you can see the Sea Princess passing along the bay towards her birth.

Closer view from Fishermans Warf!

Even closer still!!!! Can you see the Smiths waving from the top deck????

And finally we see the view from the ships Bridge Cam. The ship will lye here for a few hours, swap of its passengers and then set sail on its next voyage!

The end of a memorable holiday I am sure! Perhaps we can get the Smith family to add a comment here.
